Blessing of the Animals
Parishioners are invited to bring their animals to Church for a special blessing near or on the Feast Day of St. Francis (October 4). Animals and owners will meet in front of Our Lady of Fatima Church at 9:30 a.m. or on the steps of Annunciation Church at 3:30 p.m.
Expectant Family Mass
Expectant parents and their other children are invited to receive a special blessing at the Saturday evening Mass which will be held once a year and alternate between Our Lady of Fatima Church and Annunciation Church. Dates will be announced in the bulletin and on Flocknote, and we ask you to please contact the rectory to let us know that you will be in attendance. We encourage expectant families to allow the Parish to join them in celebration of their joyous family event.
The tradition of Luminaria started in Crestwood over thirty years ago along one block and, today, has grown to be a community-wide affair. On Christmas Eve, at about 7:00 p.m., the dark streets are transformed into a stunning symbol of our community welcoming the Christ Child into our homes as we light luminaria candles in front of our homes. If you are new to the community and would like to take part in this beautiful tradition, please call or email Chris and Nancy. Parishioners are encouraged to pick up their candles at the Breakfast with Santa (Ladies’ Guild event) in early December.
The Annual Parish Raffle is the one of the largest fundraisers for the parish. A limited number of chances are sold (600) for $100 each. The raffle drawing is held on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving each November with a party for all raffle holders. We hope you will consider joining your fellow parishioners in this fun fundraising event.
St. Patrick’s Day and St. Joseph’s Day Celebrations
The parish celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with two events in March. One is a dinner dance held in Breen Hall, which is sponsored by Holy Name Society, and the other is a reception held in the Annunciation School gym after the 5:00 p.m. Mass on a Saturday evening. The reception includes traditional Irish dancing and Irish music performances.
The St. Joseph’s Table is a March event where parishioners come together for a simple supper of soup and bread and make a monetary offering of their choosing. The St. Joseph’s Table is held alternately at Breen Hall or the Annunciation School gym with the support of many parishioners, including the members of the Martha and Mary Network.
The dates of these events are announced in the bulletin and via Flocknote. We invite you to enjoy some social time with other parishioners as we celebrate these traditional events with Irish and Italian flair!
Wedding Anniversary Receptions
Parishioners who are celebrating their 25th, 50th or 60th wedding anniversary in the coming year are invited to contact the rectory. In the spring, the parish celebrates with these couples at a Saturday evening Mass at Annunciation Church. At Mass, the anniversary couples are given a special blessing, and afterwards they are invited to a small reception in their honor. Dates are announced in the bulletin and through Flocknote.
