Letter From the Pastor – September 5, 2021

Several years ago, a plane crashed at National Airport in Washington D.C.   While taking off during a snow storm, it lost altitude, bounced off a bridge and fell into the river.  In the aftermath of the tragedy, a helicopter was used to lift survivors from the icy water.  The rescue effort produced a number of heroes. One of the most memorable was a man in the water.  When the helicopter came for him, he waved it on to another survivor.  He did this, not once, but several times.  And when the helicopter came back the last time, it was too […]

Letter From the Pastor – August 29, 2021

Most of us were learning to talk at about the same time we were learning to walk.  Now, we can do one as readily and as automatically as the other.  We have long since mastered the fine art of verbal communication.  It is a part of our daily experience that is almost as natural as breathing. Having to stand in line a little longer than you thought necessary? A phone call that interrupted your evening meal; and that from someone trying […]

Letter From the Pastor – August 8, 2021

If you were asked to sum up your life to this moment in one brief statement of twenty-five words or less, how would you do it?  What would you say?                 Think about that for a moment.  You have been living now for fifteen years, fifty years, or however long it’s been.  Those years have contained a combination of good and bad, success and failure, fulfillment and disappointment.  Now you want to summarize them in one brief statement.  How would you go about doing that?                 Admittedly, it would not be easy […]
