It often appears to me that the church in the latter part of the twentieth century, and now in the beginning of the twenty-first century, has a golden opportunity to make the gospel of Jesus real and relevant to a world that is weary of wars, weary of emptiness, and increasingly weary of moral degradation. All of us are familiar with the Ten Commandments. We have heard about them all of our lives. Many of us could recite most of them from memory. They are the moral and ethical foundation upon which our society is based. Without them, it would be impossible for people to live together in peace and harmony.
