Letter From the Pastor – January 21, 2018

A little boy once asked if God made the alligators.  The standard and predictable answer was given, “Yes, son, God made everything.”  Then the little boy responded with one more question.  “Why did He make them so mean?”                 Life is fraught with mystery.  Everywhere the question, “Why?” raises its head.  Why war?  Why poverty? Why disease? Why earthquakes? Why floods? Why human suffering and heartbreak manifested in a thousand ways?  All of these are questions to which we do not have an answer.                 We seem to live by the clock.  […]

Letter From the Pastor – January 14, 2018

As we know, modern technology has enabled us to take wonderful photos of the  human fetus living within his or her mother’s womb.  This is a great help to doctors in their care for the pre-born child.  However, it can also provide some with efficient means to invade this most sacred place – the very womb of a mother – and kill its helpless human    inhabitant.  As you may know, every hour about two hundred babies will be aborted in this country alone.  Just take a moment to think about this fact.  That means that about 120,000 babies per month […]

Letter From the Pastor – January 7, 2018

I remember reading a story about a businessman in San Antonio, Texas, who parked his shiny new automobile outside a downtown bank and went inside.  When he returned he found a little shoeshine boy examining the car in wide-eyed amazement.  As he opened the door to get in, the little boy said, “Is this your car Mister?”  “Yes, Son, it’s my car.”  “Where did you get it?”  the little boy wanted to know.  So the man explained that the car had been given to him as a birthday present from his brother.  […]

Letter From the Pastor – December 31, 2017

It is important that we become sensitive to God’s presence and alert to the ways He reveals Himself in the daily occurrence of life.  Often the problem is that we simply don’t know what to look for, or we don’t take the time in our hurried lives to be aware of our Father’s presence.  It’s like going out to a forest in the dead of winter.  All we can see are bare limbs of trees, a blanket of snow, withered flowers.  There doesn’t seem to be much life around.  Yet all the life of a forest in the fullness of […]

Letter From the Pastor – December 24, 2017

Christmas 2017 is a time to look back and to remember.  Christmas is a time for the exchange of gifts.  But most of all, Christmas is the time to remember the greatest gift of all – the gift of God’s redeeming love, His hope, His peace in the person of His only Begotten Son, Jesus. As God gives Himself to us each day, so we give ourselves to Him in a complete gift of self, our hearts swept clean of sin and afire with love.  Only then shall we truly find Jesus this Christmas 2017 and every day.  As we […]
